Our friends at Mental Health America have been reminding us all about the importance of our mental health since 1949 when they launched Mental Health Month. Last year they are raised awareness about the connection between our mental health and our physical health. This year they are expanding that focus to include things like humor, work-life balance, recreation and social connections, spirituality and religion, and animal companionship. They have explored how these lifestyle choices can prevent the onset or reduce worsening of various mental health conditions as well as physical health issues such as heart disease, diabetes, and obesity. They can also help with recovery. This month we will be posting what Mental Health America has discovered and some of the interesting ways you can improve your mental health and physical health.
